It's not news that the last year has been a trying one for our community and many others. Did you know that stretching can help?

Stretching releases muscle tension, which in turn improves posture and allows for increased ability focus on your tasks at hand. Here are a few easy ones you can do from the comfort of your office chair.

1) Interlace your fingers and straighten your arms above your head so your palms are facing the ceiling. Exhale and hold the stretch for a ten count.

2) Rest your forearms on your office chair armrests so your elbows are bent at a 90 degree angle. Exhale, and slowly push your elbows behind you as far as you can comfortably go. Hold the stretch for a five count.

3) While seated in your chair, move your feet shoulder width apart. Then slowly bend forward, keeping your bottom in your chair, until you place your hands on the ground between your feet. If you cannot reach the ground, hold the stretch for ten seconds when you can go no further. Pro tip: Scoot back from your desk before attempting so you don't bang your head on your keyboard.

If you're working from home, or in an office where nobody thinks it's weird that you're suddenly laying on the ground, here is one more you can do. Lay flat on your back with your legs bent at about a 45 degree angle, and your arms straight out to the side, palms facing the ceiling. Proceed to pretend you are making a snow angel.

Hopefully you find these tips helpful. And take heart! Better times are on the way!
